Альбом Neapolis неважно продвигался в чарте; реакция музыкальных критиков была какой-то неопределенной. Фирма Chrysalis Records отказалась выпускать этот материал в США, приводя в качестве довода отсутствие интереса у американских любителей музыки. Европейский гастрольный тур в марте-июле 1998 прерывался из-за проблем со здоровьем участников группы и финансовых неурядиц, вплоть до замены Simple Minds группой James на Fleadh Festival.
